13. Shrinathji with Pichwai
Finest of all design elements and themes, the journey which explores design and story behind
nathdwara and scours through Pichwai for the significant blend behind every element which is
enriching. Use the design elements that have a strong symbolic reference to Shrinathji.
Intricate and visualized stunning, Pichwai paintings, made on cloth, depict tales from Lord Krishna’s
life.
Most commonly found elements are pink lotuses, ring rose parrots, peacocks, banana leaves, silver
and gold cows. Every element you decide to use will have a meaning likewise if you use
‘Nathdwara’ it implies the ‘gate of the lord’ The ring rose parrots bring good luck and fortune to
couples. Banana leaves were used to offer food to Shrinathji and are a symbol of fertility and
prosperity. You can have illustrations of Kumbhnandas, Surdas, Krishnadas, Paramanandadas,
Govinda Swamy, Cheeth Swamy, Chattrabhujadas, Nanddas, four great scholars and 4 disciples
of the Mandal. They were also the best musicians, singers and poets in their time as they were the
ultimate devotees of Shrinathji. This can be used in your sangeet invitation.
The dance of the peacock symbolizes rain (abundance), and the bird’s courting ritual was by
Krishna, who danced for Radha. No doubt this invitation would give outstanding appearances
